Designer ceramics: what was new at Cersaie 2025? Discovering the latest trends with the Marca Corona collections

Journey into the revelations and trends of the Bologna ceramic tile exhibition, window on international developments, styles and Italian solutions.

The 42nd edition of Cersaie, the trade fair that turned Bologna into a global meeting place for the entire ceramic surfaces sector, recently came to an end.

An event which, once again in 2025, exceeded all expectations, confirming its standing as one of the most important international expos in the sector and a privileged window onto the evolutions currently taking place in the world of designer ceramics for architecture and bathroom furnishings.

But what was new at Cersaie 2025 and what trends were spotted at this latest edition of the event?

The collections presented at booth C76-D75 - the Marca Corona stand - in Hall 37 evidenced a clear line of direction:

the desire to break from custom, focusing on new design possibilities that explore the allure of the exotic, not just as an aesthetic expression and vehicle of dynamic environments, but above all as a new frontier of stylistic fusion: from forms to the richness of tones, body mixes and applications.

Evoking the idea of extravagant and original things from far-off lands, the Marca Corona space imagines a Wunderkammer of surfaces of high visual and tactile intensity. This year, three-dimensional forms, graphic contrasts and hints of colour combine in a bold and particularly expressive decorative language.

Our white-body and Italian porcelain stoneware surfaces are therefore a nod in the direction of the new “Exotic Appeal” concept where particular attention is focused on the overall look and the creative mix & match, with small tiles and large slabs that blend efficiency, beauty and versatility in an increasingly sophisticated way.

Ceramics therefore take on a wider meaning, going beyond their definition as merely wall or floor coverings to become design and furnishing elements that play a central role in the conception of architectural environments that combine identity, quality, style and function.

Cersaie 2025 news and trends. From textured marble effects to ceramic basalt and frit finishes, interior design embraces new techniques

Taking a closer look at the news and trends coming out of Cersaie 2025, the word that best sums up the new tendencies previewed at the event and set to shape the forthcoming autumn/winter season is “experimentation” based on originality, extravagance and the ability to surprise.

Fully in line with this shift towards sources of inspiration that go beyond established boundaries of knowledge, at the Marca Corona space at Cersaie Bologna 2025 Italian ceramics are combined with an exploration of textures, colours and finishes that lead to exotic horizons, celebrating the spirit of the traveller in us and the wondrousness of discovering things that aren’t as we expected because they are strange, distinctive, out of the ordinary.

The stand becomes a contemporary cabinet of curiosities, a place where visitors can see things in a new light, allow themselves to be surprised, get lost in unexpected environments and let their curiosity guide them.

From here, the combination of pigments, the new textures and the essence of the surfaces lead to the creation of spaces where sophistication is also desire, application, cross-contamination.

On this basis, at the Marca Corona stand bright and neutral tones, encompassing the fineness of light-coloured marble-effect large slabs alternated with lively and luminous brick tiles and square tiles in ceramic basalt, are blended harmoniously with elements like lattice tiles and glazed surfaces with a Mediterranean feel.

The residential and contract areas also coexist in harmony thanks to dedicated moments woven together at the stand. From the indoor garden, to the micro and macro room where large and small sizes meet in a game of contrasts and similarities that underlines the versatility of the material, through to the meeting and contract area, the ideal space to take advantage of networking opportunities and receive the consultancy of our team of experts.

The materials therefore remain comfortable, perfect for cladding welcoming spaces, but become more distinctive in their details and colours. Let’s take a look at all of their features in the details on the different collections.

White body and designer porcelain stoneware: Italian ceramics in the Marca Corona design vision with the Cersaie 2025 collections

Italian ceramics increasingly central in the creation of functional and stylish architectural spaces thanks to surfaces that combine aesthetics with excellent technical performance, safety and durability.

The Marca Corona vision of white-body and designer porcelain stoneware surfaces is one of integrated design, where the tile is not just a “wall covering” or “flooring” but a distinctive interior design style in synergy with the other elements of the project.

We have further highlighted this tendency in the Cersaie 2025 collections thanks to solutions like:

Scultorea Delicata

This porcelain stoneware collection extends the Marca Corona marble-effect range, continuing the development of the Scultorea line, presented for the first time during Cersaie 2023.

Scultorea Delicata is the result of research into fine light-coloured marbles, taking its inspiration from emblematic types like travertine and calacatta but also more unusual, intriguing and fine patterns.

Unlike “standard” marble-effect surfaces, the Scultorea Delicata collection does not dominate spaces, furnishing with gentle sophistication through rounded shapes, warm and enveloping tones in neutral shades (from ivory to sand), and soft textures.

Talking about the textures of this collection, Scultorea Delicata is available in the Velvet option, a special finish that leaves the surface silky and even more pleasant to the touch, elevating the fine polished and delicate reflective effect.

Terrasale

Porcelain stoneware collection associated with our Linea 1741 that embodies the identity, the study and the evolution of small tiles.

This collection brings an innovation to 20x20 cm square cement tiles with the new compact basalt effect enriched with original details borrowed from marine limestone.

The resulting effect is a unique Terrazzo with a pinhole pattern that is both very delicate but also extremely glossy and shiny thanks also to the introduction of new coloured pigments that significantly expand the available colour range to offer one of the most extensive palettes in the segment.

The other benefit of the collection is the extreme ease with which the various shades available can be mixed and matched, with the possibility of creating checkerboard patterns (particularly on the floor) of various sizes, a very interesting trend at the moment that continues to return to prominence.

This is also evident in the Terrasale decors, where in addition to the only plain tile solution there is also:

  • Lacca decor
  • Astro decor

Arteseta

A collection that includes white-body monoporous surfaces in the 50x120 cm large slab size inspired by glazed zellige tiles.

The full shades and highlights of this collection - perfectly in line with modern trends - give off a decorative and luxurious air that is enriched with the exclusive frit finish, where the glossy surface varies according to the angle of the light: front-on it appears matt, from the side it has iridescent tints.

The finish also stands out for its soft, silky texture and the ease with which it can be cleaned. It is also ideal in humid locations and is neither fragile nor dry to the touch.

With Arteseta the aim is therefore to offer a concrete response to the growing trend of using saturated colours in interior design, making the reinterpretation of the traditional ceramic tile, and in particular the glazed zellige, usually produced in small sizes, available in a larger size and with a contemporary style.

This range also comes with 3 different compositions, including:

  • surface with only plain tile
  • the Riga decor, with pleated decorative elements
  • the Arco decor, with dips in bas-relief

New shades for Arialuce lattice tiles

Arialuce is the collection launched at Cersaie 2024 which sees decorative lattice tiles in terracotta introduced to the Marca Corona product range for the first time.

Produced in collaboration with Fornace S. Anselmo, Arialuce comprises 3 distinctive shapes - Curve, Pertuse and Asole - designed to create panels and geometries that regulate spaces, with designs where divisions are possible without having to build walls.

Particularly useful for open-plan environments and multipurpose spaces, these lattice tiles in extruded terracotta elevate the beauty and functionality of any room, helping to avoid putting up walls that might interrupt the consistency of the interior design.

During Cersaie 2025, the pre-existing Naturale, Avorio and Bianco Glassa colours were joined by 3 new shades:

  1. Verde (matt), homage to nature and the plant world
  2. Blu (matt), inspired by the sky and the air
  3. Nero (glazed), more intense and textured option

We hope this overview of the news from Cersaie 2025 and the Marca Corona collections has given you a clear idea of the latest trends and the direction that the ceramics segment is heading in for the autumn/winter season.
