Maiolica or Cementina… what’s your mood?

As one of the top Interior Design Trends for 2020, the vintage style is an absolute must in the most modern and original dream homes.

Maiolica and Cementina are two different interpretations of the immortal retro style, perfect for adding character to interiors and for creating evocative atmospheres.

More than any other, vintage is a comfort-style that brings all the charm and cosiness from the past, just waiting for new stories to be created.
From the bathroom to the living room, in both the home and commercial settings, a touch of vintage is perfect as it can be combined with styles and furnishing accessories from different eras.

Marca Corona unveils and re-interprets this trend in an original way with its line 1741: an exclusive range of smaller tiles that are inspired directly by the company’s historic Museum and its host of relics of the ceramic district, from the 18th century to the present day. It is a treasure trove in which handmade items in ceramic, rich in colour, decorative details and refined patterns, are conserved.

Shapes and designs of yesteryear are thus recovered and restyled on Majolicas and Cementine that are amazingly modern, and popular also due to the cosy, personal touch they add to any space.

Maiolica in porcelain stoneware

The series Maiolica di Marca Corona revamps the patterns and designs of bygone days to add a fresh, dynamic and ultra-glamorous touch to interior design projects.
The collection offers a new version of the 10x10 format with two glossary base tiles, a majolica bianca and blue, and six different decorations in blue on a white background, with stylised geometric and floral designs. The solid colour version is ideal for creating bright colour blocks while the patterns are designed to create eye-catching, highly decorative walls.

The refined ceramic decoration emphasises the artistic and handmade appearance of these stoneware wall tiles, while the rich glazes applied to the surface give them an almost three-dimensional look and a glossy finish that creates pleasant light effects on the surface.
It is like a very flashy, sophisticated dress that is suitable for covering even the most eclectic spaces, such as trendy cafés, retro-style boutiques, modern bistros and designer restaurants.

Cementina in porcelain stoneware

Marca Corona offers its very own interpretation of Cementine tiles with Ossidi, a series of floor and wall coverings in porcelain stoneware that combines rich patterns, innovative sizes - 20x20 and diamond 18.7x32.4cm - and depth of colour, ranging from neutral tones (white, grey and black) to up-to-the-minute shades (light blue and burgundy).

The saturated shades and matt finishes give the cementina in gres a very striking handmade look and depth. They are perfect for making any room or space in the home or in commercial spaces warmer and cosier.

The wide range of decorations includes geometric and floral motifs that have a retro feel and stir emotions.
They give designers absolute freedom to create virtually endless compositions with patterns and colour: from elegant colour blocks, combinations of plain tiles and decorative patterns, to entire blocks of patterns… not forgetting the versatility of diamond-shaped tiles that are perfect for creating bold patterns of colour, always in perfect vintage-style.
