Jurčkovo naselje: a residential project completed in Slovenia with Marca Corona collections

Biophilic architecture and contemporary design for a new vision of living

Jurčkovo naselje is a residential development situated along Jurčkova cesta in Ljubljana. Completed in 2026, the project involved architecture firms OFIS Arhitekti and GAO Arhitekti, with Špela Videčnik and Petra Zakrajšek. The composition of volumes, expansive terraces, and pervasive greenery outline a contemporary neighbourhood engineered around daily well-being. Architecture, landscape and interior design converge to create a measured balance between private living, shared spaces and nature.

Biophilic architecture bridging city and landscape

The project interprets the principles of biophilic architecture through a direct connection between the built environment and natural foliage. Large planters integrated into the balconies, rooftop gardens and green courtyards draw nature directly into the residences, softening the rigorous geometry of the façades. The neighbourhood is entirely car-free, with parking situated in the basement level: pedestrian pathways, play areas, seating, and communal hubs create a protected environment designed to foster connection among residents. Proximity to the Pot PST cycling and walking route further strengthens its connection to the surrounding landscape and Ljubljana’s green spaces.

Shared spaces as part of the living experience

Loggias, walkways, corridors and stairwells become defining elements of the project’s identity. Externally, the white structures establish a dialogue with lush foliage and a sequence of slender vertical elements that rhythmically break up the façades. Angled planters introduce dynamism, transforming each balcony into an inhabited threshold between the home and the landscape.

Within the shared interiors, the palette transitions into warmer, more textured shades: bare concrete, neutral finishes, timber handrails and accent lighting build an intimate atmosphere, while ceramic surfaces introduce colour, cadence, and visual identity.

Jurčkovo naselje: a community shaped by material

Jurčkovo naselje offers a residential model where nature, architecture, and surfaces establish a dialogue, shaping a unified landscape. The chromatic quality of the exteriors finds its counterpart in the distinctive patterns of the communal spaces, while private interiors regain light, comfort and proportion. Marca Corona ceramic surfaces play a precise architectural role: guiding circulation, defining functional zones and imparting character even to transit spaces. Every threshold thus becomes part of a cohesive living experience, crafted for a contemporary community.
