Laying systems
Marca Corona's HiThick line is a complete, cutting-edge system for fulfilling the specific needs of outdoor planning. 20-mm thick porcelain stoneware surfaces combine Made in Italy style and technical excellence with exceptional versatility, thanks to the availability of 4 installation systems, designed for different substrates and intended uses.
Raised installation with the HiBase system
For raised installation on surfaces that are not level, Marca Corona presents HiBase, an innovative installation system consisting of a supporting structure and supports with an adjustable height to ensure perfect flatness and stability of the treading surface. HiBase can be shaped during installation. It is easy to install and to reposition over time. It can withstand different types of load, depending on actual distribution of weight across the surface. Raised installation with HiBase can also include the use of sound-proofing panels to improve insulation of the floor, and geotextile to prevent insects escaping and dirt from falling through the joints.
Raised installation
Marca Corona technical solutions allow for raised installation on different types of flat substrate. Thanks to this ground-breaking installation system, irrigation and lighting systems, as well as piping, can be accommodated under the treading surface to optimise space. Tiles are installed on supports and can be easily removed for inspecting and servicing the equipment underneath.

Installation on grass
HiThick extra thick slabs are the ideal solution for private gardens and for green public areas: installation on grass is dry, without the use of adhesives, and allows for the creation of particularly elegant islands and pathways. 20-mm thick stoneware slabs are easy to install, they can be used immediately and they resist atmospheric agents. They also give you the possibility to modify your outdoor project to keep up with all the latest outdoor trends.

Installation on gravel or sand
To transform gardens, barbecue patios and residential and commercial exteriors into safe and comfortable places, we recommend installation on gravel and sand as it solves water drainage issues. Slabs are laid on the chosen substrate without using adhesives. They can be secured in place more firmly using borders that prevent dislodging. Thanks to simple and rapid installation, along with the lack of grouting joints, this system can be used immediately and slabs can be replaced easily whenever necessary.

HiThick is also recommended for vehicle and pedestrian accessible areas, such as car parks, access ramps, garages, squares and cycle lanes. In fact, 20-mm thick porcelain stoneware ensures the maximum resistance against dynamic and static loads, atmospheric agents, chemicals and salt. The availability of so many effects, colours and extra thick sizes gives you the opportunity to design an exterior space that can be perfectly matched with your indoor environment.

Optimal drainage
Irrespective of the type of installation method chosen, HiThick porcelain stoneware has features that are essential for outdoor projects, such as for instance durability, frost-resistance and a water absorption that is virtually zero. The capacity of slabs to not absorb any water guarantees surfaces that remain unchanged over time. However, this property can lead to water stagnating on the edges of tiles: to obtain optimal drainage, it is sufficient to adopt a few simple precautions during design, such as the preparation of transverse or longitudinal slopes (1.5% - 2%) when levelling, and the addition of a further layer of draining material.
