WHAT SUSTAINABILITY MEANS TO MARCA CORONA:
AN INTEGRAL PART OF ITS CORPORATE CULTURE
Marca Corona has been investing strongly for years in the optimisation of its production processes, focusing on innovative technologies and a sustainability-oriented approach: from recycling to energy saving, through to the reduction of atmospheric emissions.
Looking firmly to the future, the company has chosen to align its strategy with the 2030 Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals, transforming the principles of sustainability into tangible, measurable actions that generate value in both environmental and social terms.

Environmental Management System
This process standard, with entirely voluntary certification, confirms the company’s commitment to implementing an Environmental Management System, a control tool for monitoring and gradually reducing the environmental impact of its business.
Product sustainability
Safe, natural materials
Every Marca Corona collection combines aesthetics with responsibility. The company’s many product certifications confirm its compliance with strict environmental and health criteria, implemented in every phase from design to the material’s lifecycle. A genuine commitment, enabling it to contribute to sustainable architectural projects worldwide.
Extraordinary performance
Marca Corona products are developed to provide interiors with the highest level of comfort and ensure the wellbeing of their users. Made exclusively from raw materials of natural origin, our ceramics are free from plastics and harmful man-made substances and do not require chemical surface treatments. They do not release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), do not absorb dust or dirt, are completely odourless and do not cause allergies. Therefore, they are ideal in all residential and retail contexts and also in sensitive locations like schools, hospitals and the homes of families that include children or the elderly.
Product certifications and declarations
Material transparency label (International Living Future Institute) that declares the product’s ingredients, origin and end-of-life and its Red List status (Red List Free, Red List Approved or Declared).
International standard that defines the requirements, assessment methods and scoring system for the sustainability of ceramic tiles (environmental, economic and social criteria) throughout their lifecycle.
Building certifications
International (USGBC) sustainable building rating system that assesses energy, water, materials, indoor quality, site and innovation; it awards certification levels on the basis of the credits achieved. Thanks to their EPDs and transparent declarations, Marca Corona products can help to achieve a number of LEED credits.
Social sustainability
A dialogue
with the local area
Marca Corona promotes programmes that strengthen the bond with the local area and people. Partnerships with schools, cultural institutions and local communities reflect a genuine commitment to the social and cultural development of the ceramics district and the city of Sassuolo. The company contributes to the local area through:
educational programmes and workshops with ceramics district schools, such as the “Invent your tile” workshop;
cultural events, including exhibitions at the Palazzo Ducale and activities within the municipal museum circuit;
local events and sponsorships that promote Sassuolo as the “Ceramic Valley”.
Not just an exhibition space but rather an expression of a corporate identity: Galleria Marca Corona conserves and tells the story of Italian excellence in ceramics, becoming a place where art, culture and sustainable innovation meet.
Marca Corona
per l’Arte
Launched in 2022, the project asks selected Italian artists to interpret the company’s core values, also involving employees and schools through workshops and training days. A way of enabling young people to get to know the world of ceramics and the career opportunities the industry offers.
The Marca Corona
award
Building on the success of Marca Corona per l’Arte, the company has created an award for artists under 35. In addition to financial support, the winner sees their project transformed into a ceramic artwork, a tangible link between contemporary art, industry and the local area.
